“Queer spaces like nightclubs have always meant so much to me,” Amanda Lepore tells Apple Music. “They were where I first found freedom, safety and a real sense of belonging. For someone like me, coming up in a world that didn’t always understand or embrace difference, clubs were where I found my people. You form bonds in those spaces that go beyond friendship—they become your chosen family,” says the pop culture figure, performance artist and DJ. Those spaces—and the people she met there—are reflected and honoured in her Pride DJ mix. “[They] gave me the freedom to express myself fully, and it connected me with some of the most incredible, creative and resilient people I know,” she says, explaining that her mix is a “celebration not just of the music, but of the community behind it.” Diving in a little further, Lepore shares that her mix is about “joy, resilience, glamour, the beauty of being seen—and most of all, pride. My set is sexy, decadent, queer, and above all, it’s fun. Just like me.”
