Pride 2025 (DJ Mix)

“I’ve always been lucky in that I never really had to come out or change anything about my lifestyle,” says La Roux’s Elly Jackson. “I kept going to the spaces I had already been going to which weren’t queer specifically, but I’ve always been around people and scenes where anything is possible and anything goes with total acceptance. That’s so important for young people finding themselves.” The synth-pop act’s biggest hits have been mainstays of LGBTQ+ dance floors since 2009 hit, “In for the Kill”. So it’s only fitting for Jackson to craft her own DJ mix in honour of Pride. “It’s mostly an old-school selection of ’90s house and groove moments,” she says, “with some modern electronica and two of my favourite La Roux remixes thrown in. Definitely reminiscent of going out around 2007 and discovering ’90s house, ’80s music and electronica at the same time.”
